Hospice
As life draws to a close, symptoms often intensify and new challenges arise, leaving the body too fragile for many conventional treatments. In these moments, gentle, adaptable approaches like Reiki can offer meaningful relief. It can be given with or without touch, always honoring the person’s comfort and needs.
While Reiki can ease physical discomfort, its value at end of life extends beyond the body. As the focus shifts from curing illness to creating peace and connection, holistic care becomes essential. Reiki supports emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being—helping individuals reconnect with loved ones and prepare for transition with greater ease.
It also offers comfort to those surrounding the dying. By fostering calm, presence, and acceptance, Reiki can soften fear and create a space for meaningful closure.
One practitioner, Libby Barnett, shared a moment from hospice care in which a woman with labored breathing relaxed into peaceful, quiet breaths within minutes of receiving Reiki. As her suffering eased, her family felt a deep sense of relief and recognized she was ready to let go. In this way, Reiki not only alleviated discomfort but supported a gentle, aware transition for both the individual and her loved ones.
