Comments: i'll try to make this short if i can,i was involved in a spine reconstruction on other wise healthy 50 something year old white male.we had just finished the decompression part of the surgery(removing the bone and exposing the spinal canal)on 4 levels and starting to expose the the sides of the verterbra when the real bleeding started(small epidural vessals contract and hide when cut.i always treat these patients with reiki any way but this day really challanged both my skills and the surgeons.so long story short.this patient just did not want to clot i did reiki on him for 6(yes 6)hours and every time one bleeder was under control another would start(what the hell am i doing here!).
got to the point the surgeon would say a little help here(meaning reiki),what did he think i was doing, gee whiz!so 6 hours later, 22 units of blood,12 units of f.f.p.,i don't know how many liters of fluid b.p.as low as 40,the surgeon says to me "should i do the 2/nd level?",my reply "ah...no"Question,i saw the patient the next morning in the i.c.u.he actually had skin tone not white like sheet, extabated and seating up.nurses report "he's doing great", that afternoon transferred to the floor and later that afternoon walking the hallway only on p/o pain meds.doctors report 2 days later, pain relief, no transfusion problems and home in a day or two."????????"
i looked at the doctor and said must be the "reiki",his reply,
"the more the better". has any icu nurse seen a recovery (from this big of a hit)like this? should i be patting myself on the back or is that just wishfull thinking? for awhile there i was really thinking why isn't this working(reiki)
p.s.the patient is still doing very well and he and the anesthesia doctor had no problems with my doing reiki while the patient was under(contary to questionable popular belief).
thanks for your time,

Comments: Last Sunday after a wonderful Reiki I training weekend with Libby and Maggie at Kripalu, several of us tossed around the question of where our Reiki training can be applied once we've completed Reiki II. It seems to me that my Reiki training could be applied in many, many parts of the health field, but I am not a nurse and don't expect to be ging after any additional degrees.
In our brainstorming with Libby and Maggie, we came up with some neat ideas for the applicaton of Reiki, but no sense of where Reiki practitioners are REALLY being hired. For instance, we thought that a Reiki trained parent volunteer might be a tremendous addition to a school's Nurses Room (a little laying on of hands would be helpful to sick kids waiting to be picked up by a parent, or might settle a kid with a bloody knee). My local hospital has an interesting community wellness program, might that be an option? But I have no medical training, would that matter?
I'd love to hear from folks who took their Reiki training out into the world and found a place for it. I'll happily try to facilitate this exchange among those utilizing their training and those wondering where and how to plug it in.
In advance, thanks for your input, ideas and experiences... |

Comments: Dear Maggie, Libby and friends in Reiki,
I and several others run a donation only 'Drop-in' Reiki clinic in our locality. We are all employed full time in other fields but give one evening per week to try and reach as many people as possible who wish to try Reiki.
Happily we are kept ridiculously busy and are seeing lots of people benefitting from Reiki. The clinic is run professionally and we are all insured and members of bona fide healing or complementary therapy organisations in the UK.
I am involved in teaching Reiki and I'm really pleased to find that nurses are coming to learn Reiki not only for professional use but for themselves. Reiki is less recognised in the UK hospitals than in the USA, although the hospices are more open to the use of complementary therapies.
Any comments, ideas or just a simple greeting from 'like minds' in the USA would be lovely.
For anyone interested the clinic centre website is www.wrenn.co.uk/Equilibrium
Love and best wishes
Kath
PS The book is really useful and recommended reading on my courses.

Comments: Hey Folks, As an RN with and interest in Reiki Libby
and Maggie's book has always been at hand. In 1998 I
completed my undergraduate honours degree in nursing.
My research was a phenomenological study of 5 women's
experiences of Reiki. Since then I have had a bit of
interest in my work. A number of people have contacted
me wanting to know information for their own research or
are wanting copies of my thesis, The Mystery and Meanining
of Reiki. Finally I have got motivated enough to begin
putting some of the information up on the web. So far I have
focused on putting together a listing of articles, theses,
and dissertations that have been written on Reiki. I hope
that the site will grow into a resource for those wishing to
do their own work on researching Reiki. Please feel free to
stop by my Reiki pages at
http://sites.netscape.net/strgzrdjh/ReikiPages.html
I am happy to hear from anyone who is working on or
contemplating a study or project on Reiki that related to
health care.
Kind Regards

Comments: There is a good chance that I will be working on a 15 yr old female that has been diagnosed with synovial cell sarcoma. She has undergone chemotherapy, a leg amputation and will be starting another course of chemotherapy this week (Aug 21, 2000). I offered her mother (a former boss) and her daugher Reiki and I think they will be taking me up on my offer.
My questions are, have any of you had any experience working on patients that are currently undergoing chemotherapy? Has it helped with nausea? Has it helped with phantom pain?
Thanks so much. I'm looking forward to any information I can get on this subject.

Comments: Hi, I am a Reiki Master from Hollywood, Florida. We met at one or two of the Reiki Shares in the Catskill Mountains. My name then was Monika Dunn, I have since changed it to Yumnah Zuel Aguba El, I usually use Yumnah
El.
I am so glad you put your email in the back of your book! I have read
your book many times and I must say, out of the 50 some books that I
have on Reiki, yours is the so well written and so heart felt! I have
always collected Reiki Books. I remember when I was going thru a
difficult time with making a decision about Reiki in my earlier Reiki
years, prior to becoming initiated as a Reiki Master, it was Hawayo'
Takata's Story by Helen Haberly that brought great comfort and I have
always recommend that book to my students prior to taking Reiki. Well,
as all things change, since reading and re-reading your book, I am so
happy to have another book to recommend and use as a teaching tool.
The energy and love that comes from your words and the
book itself is Reiki! I am so enthralled that I felt
I had to write you, and of course I want to recognize Maggie as well, and let you know how wonderful your
book is.
I have always touched myself with Reiki every day no
matter where I was in the universe! I have always
asked Reiki to take me deeper and deeper and deeper.
Reiki has guided me to where I am today!
Thanks again for putting Reiki into words so eloquently
and so touchingly through the Gift of Reiki -- You Are!
Peace, Love, & Many Blessings!

We would now like to begin approaching hospitals throughout the state of Utah to set up training programs for medical professionals. If anyone has information (research, emails, existing programs, etc) that would help us accomplish this task, it would be greatly appreciated.

I am to the point in my life where each day just gets harder and harder. A little bet about my husband, he broke his back in 1981. He has had three back surgeries, 8 heart attacks, an open heart surgery with a five way bypass, and in the past year a number of congestive heart failures, a broken leg and nine teeth pulled out. He is home and not working and will not be going back to work, because of his health, I work full time and still take care of him and the house. A rapied eye therapist and reiki master Jeanne Horner, just opened up an office in our town, I am more they willing to get my life back on track but I do need some help, do you think this will work for me, any input will be most helpful.

Comments: Hallo
I would like to extend an invitation to Second Degree and Master Reiki channels to participate in a Planetary Light Grid and mutual Personal Light Body Activation Project.
This project is entirely non-commercial and non-political; it is for the mutual benefit and highest good of all.
Participants will be working directly with one another and the Light Beings of Sirius, Pleiades, Archturus, and the Archangelic Orders of the Great White Brotherhood in building, integrating, empowering and regulating the architectural structures of the Planetary Light Grid and one another's Light Bodies.
The importance and influence of this project is immense in it's effectuating the healing, right growth and enlightenment of this Planet and it's inhabitants.
Afterall, that is the only authentic motivation for becoming a Reiki Channel is it not? To nurture the healing, growth and enlightenment of self, planet and others.
We need as many Reiki channels from all around the world as possible directly working on this project for it to be of maximum effect as we literally co-engineer the future of Earth.
The technique is incredibly simple and need not require any more than twenty minutes of your time per day (though longer periods of emission are greatly welcomed).
Participation does require provision of some basic identifying personal information (Name, Date of Birth, Place of Birth, E-Mail). As such this information will be shared with all participants. Please do not join if you are unwilling to correctly provide this information to the group.

Comments: I have read Libby Barnett's/Maggie Chamber's Energy Medicine book and found it most informative. I am a Reiki II Practitioner and was recently approached by the Hospital in my city to assist them in implementing a Reiki Wellness Program. I am very excited and also nervous. I have started putting together a Reiki Presentation Booklet and was wondering if anyone can give me any input as to what I need to include in a booklet being presented to the Hospital. I work full-time in the legal field and am not familiar with what issues need to be addressed in this type of presentation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly! :)

Having contributed to this page back in 2000 and revisiting today I realise how much everything has moved on. The clinic we founded is still running, busier than ever and with lots of new people joining as clients. I still gain so much from the spiritual side of Reiki and know on a personal level it's kept me sound during the last years.
The world needs some light during these dark times and every little beacon helps from whatever source, creed or culture. I wish visitors to this page peace and light.

Comments: I currently work at the MGH, but will be moving on shortly as the job will be ending. I practice reiki on friends and frequently at a clinic. I plan on making a career change and working as a healer. I would like to know if the MGH, BI or any other of the local hospitals use reiki. I am especially interested in working at a hospice or Palliative Care Unit at the MGH. I realize that due to licensing issues, it might not be possible to put my hands on patients. However, I will be certified in basic clinical hypnotherapy and will incorporate this into the reiki sessions.
Could I have some feedback, comments, suggestions?
Thanks for your assistance. |

Comments: I have been a Reiki practitioner for three years. I would like to share with you how I have managed to use Reiki in my city. Like many people I pondered about how to go about sharing this wonderful healing. Little by little the most simple method took shape. Whenever someone complains about their health I listen carefully and then ask them if they would like me to help. Usually the answer is yes even before I explain about Reiki. In this way I have assisted all kinds of ailments from depressions to cronic ailments, all ages... all kinds of people. Some pay a fee and others offer something in exchange. The session takes place in my home, their home, in a hospital or wherever is most convenient for both. A few blocks from my home is an old people's home where I and three friends have offered to give Reiki twice a week. We started with the staff so that they could understand what we are up to. They were delighted and still are. The response is always one of gratitude. My conclusion is that it isn't difficult to share Reiki. We seem to make it difficult. |

Comments: I have been incorporating Reiki into my practice since 1999, and just completed Master training this Fall. I am seeking to introduce Reiki in a more overt way into hospital practices. In our community hospitals, Healing Touch, and Reiki to a lesser extent, are practiced by some nurses and other personnel. Occasionally, a Reiki practitioner is permitted in the OR. I would be interested in any good studies or articles that I might use as "ammunition" for the introduction of a greater Reiki presence in out local hospitals. |

Comments: Recently I became a Reiki I practioner. The Reiki Master who initiated me explained the "heat" reaction to me when I asked her as to whether or not the "heat" element is a good thing etc.
She explained that the heat is a very good thing and that there were 2 kinds of heat. One which comes from the receiver. If you feel heat from a particular area, that is an area that needs work (so to speak) or Reiki to that area. There is also the heat that comes through you and out through your hands. That is the healing energy. She explained that when you place your hands over an area and it heats up this is the area that needs healing. You may be over that area for 5 minutes or as much as 20 minutes plus......but to continue until you begin to feel the heat dissipating or cooling down. Then you can move to another area. I have been doing Reiki now as often as I can. Ive become so hot that my shirt and my hair becomes literally wet. This is normal. It was explained to me that it's a major good thing!! So..... the question is "How does one handle that intensity of heat when it almost makes you pass out?" For me personally I also work with various stones along with my Reiki. I do carry a "Hematite" stone which is a good "grounding" stone as well as a very good healing stone. Bloodstone or Agate is another stone for grounding. You can also silently ask for grounding and protection from your masters and helpers. 6-8 glasses of water a day when your using reiki. Reiki can dehydrate you :) so these are just some suggestions. Good luck. |
